A big thanks goes to the creators of the Jack Green Appreciation web site. My wife and I are huge fans and, of course, have all of Jack's albums. Back in the day ....... we attended a Jack Green record signing at West Edmonton Mall- Mister Sound.
I had drawn a picture of Jack Green and wanted Jack to sign it. After waiting patiently in line for approximately an hour or so, my wife and I got to meet Jack. Jack was super friendly to all the fans and at the urging of his manager, had to sign albums, etc at a rapid rate. The signing table was at the back of the record store and the line spilled out into the mall and fans continued to join the line.
When we finally got to meet Jack, he signed an album my wife bought. When Jack saw my drawing, he stopped the line cold. Testing the patience of fans behind us, Jack took in all of the details and seemed genuinely taken aback that anyone would take the time to do any form of artwork commemorating him. Jack like the drawing so much he tried to sweet talk me into giving it to him. He was very convincing .......... giving me the puppy dog eyes saying "please". As a big fan, it nearly killed me to say "sorry, I cant let it go". To this day I have regrets but still have my cherished drawing with his signature under a big "THANKS" Jeff. We spent about 15 minutes of quality time with Jack which we remember with fondnessl.
I would love to get a copy of the drawing to Jack. I have read that Jack may be reluctant to perform again. I would personally pay his flight to come to Edmonton to have the privilege to see him perform one more time (we seen him perform three times). Then I realized he would need to have his band, instruments, etc, etc ......
I have an offer to the Jack Green Appreciation Website - I will provide a high resolution file of the drawing I drew back in 1982 so it could be sent to Jack ....... and any other fan who wants a copy. If the website wants to sell prints at a modest price ..... perhaps we could raise some funds to pay Jack's way to E-Town ....... for a encore performance.
I would be give me great pleasure to close the loop with Jack and give him a copy of the print he so wanted nearly 3 decades ago.
Thanks again to those who spent their time to create this site. Alberta loves Jack Green. I am certain this music crazy city of Edmonton and his fans would love an ENCORE performance.
